Chaplain John entered the public safety realm when he became a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Hillsboro Fire Department. He served the City of Hillsboro, Oregon for about 9 years when he and his wife decided to move to the state of Wisconsin. They lived there for 16 years and it was during that time that John became an ordained minister of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. He became a chaplain for their City of Stoughton, WI serving their police, fire, and EMS departments.
About five years ago, he and his wife, Marie, moved back to the Portland area, eventually settling in Canby. He serves the Canby Fire Department and the Milwaukie Police Department as a chaplain. He is a pastor in the area and still also maintains his 35-year career in the field of Information Technology. He is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains and of the local group Public Safety Chaplaincy.
“It is my honor and privilege to serve first responders and the larger community in the unique way that God has placed in front of me.”
